Breast Cancer Symptoms

How exactly do we know if we are seriously ill or not? The body?s processes are quite complex, but simple at the same time. At times, we tend to forget how each and every part of our body coordinates for us to perform even the most mundane tasks. Even though we are not as conscious of it as we would like to be, we know that our body has its own way of communicating with us.

Our body sends a tremendous amount of signals that we process every day. From the things we see to the food we eat, our body sends us the information we need ? like when our stomach growls when we are hungry. It?s almost the same principle when the body experiences swells, feels tired, or is in pain.

The way for us to detect cancer at an early stage is for us to listen to what our body is telling us. There are signs and symptoms that make certain diseases identifiable. A combination of certain symptoms is our guide to tell whether we are just coming down with the flu or with something entirely different.

Breast cancer almost always makes itself known when we stumble upon a lump. A lump that may be considered malignant when it is solid, hard, fixed within the breast and is accompanied by a thickening of the skin similar to the pitting pattern on an orange. More obvious changes in the breasts will occur if the tumor is malignant, such as the following:

* The nipple discharges fluids without pressure

* The nipple is inverted

* The nipple and surrounding areola is red or scaly

General Symptoms for Cancer

Most people with cancer experience weight loss, fever and fatigue as the cancer progresses. These symptoms, however, may be mistaken for something else, as fever is a very common symptom for infections. Fatigue may even be attributed to certain lifestyles or stress.

However, there are unmistakable changes that makes cancer more distinguishable. If any or more of the following symptoms appear, it is wise to consult with a physician immediately:

* If you have wounds or sores that do not quickly heal

* If a mole or wart on your body has changed in size or color

* If you have an unexplained hoarseness or coughing

* If you experience a sudden drop in weight.
