Good morning Panama City, did you see the last GOP primary debate?

It was interesting and most of the candidates seemed to have ample ?Face? time.? We learned a bit more about the candidates plans to restore the economy.? I like Rick Santorum?s ideas, I think he understands that creating manufacturing jobs is one nation?s most pressing needs.

I remember back in the seventies there were people saying that we had become an ?Information Society?, and a ?Mature Industrial Country?.? They thought the loss of our manufacturing jobs was unimportant, and the natural course of events.

I believe Santorum is right and that manufacturing is where a nation?s wealth is created.? Look at the gains and wealth accumulation of the world?s export oriented countries.

We also have another enormous problem and that is the 46 percent of our working age population that is living on the dole.? It isn?t possible to scrutinize the composition of the people who rely on the so called ?Entitlement? programs, as that data isn?t too plentiful.

All of the candidates have commented on the need to overhaul social security, and Medicare, but only Gingrich and Santorum have commented on the rest of the entitlement programs, and the need to do something about them.

What to do with the people in these entitlement programs is a huge problem.? It would be heartless and cruel to just do away with those programs and not consider the people who are currently dependent on them.

We must have readily available jobs for the people currently in the entitlement programs.? We need those jobs right away, not in the ten years the liberals think it will take to reduce unemployment.? Santorum?s idea of not taxing manufacturing businesses would cause a lot of rapid growth in manufacturing, producing a lot of jobs right away.

That is one of the big problems with our current job market, most jobs require a college degree these days, and most of the people in the entitlement programs are lucky to have a high school diploma.? If we had a big manufacturing base there would be jobs for high school graduates.

I think Santorum?s approach makes a lot of sense, and other people think so as well as he has won the support of the Christian conservative leadership.? Will that support turn into campaign money?

I also think developing all of our nation?s energy resources is another area that would produce a lot of jobs.? We barely have sufficient electrical generating capacity as we suffer rolling blackouts sometimes when we have an unusually hot summer.? If we are going to fill our roads with electric cars, and build new factories we will need more energy.? Most of the candidates support developing our energy resources.

These are all areas we the people are going to have to prod the politicians into working on.? Politicians take the path of least resistance.
