COMPUTATIONAL BIOLOGY (BIOINFORMATICS)

Part Time (20 ? 25 hours per week)

Description

We are seeking a highly motivated individual to assist our Bioinformatics group to develop novel approaches for understanding microRNA biology. The candidate will closely work with the genomics profiling group to process and analyze microRNA expression data for target selection, elucidation of mechanism of drug action, and biomarker identification.

Responsibilities

  • Process, normalize, and transfer gene expression data to our proprietary databases
  • Contribute to improvement of our genomic data processing pipeline and quality control
  • Analyze microRNA expression data and contribute to drug discovery efforts

Desired background and skills include:

  • Basic knowledge of molecular biology
  • Some experience in bioinformatics/computational biology
  • Familiarity with algorithms and databases is a plus
  • Knowledge of R and/or scripting languages is a plus
  • Great interpersonal skills, enjoys working in teams
  • Adaptable, enthusiastic about learning
  • Able to prioritize projects and meet timelines
  • Strong fluency in spoken and written English
